Data Synchronization in Netbooks, Desktops and Mobile Devices

Data synchronization is still mostly a missing piece in the free desktop puzzle: solutions that are reliable and ready for the mythical Average User just aren't available. This talk presents the SyncML protocol, introduces the open source SyncML engine used in MeeGo and outlines how SyncEvolution is used as the synchronization solution in MeeGo. Direct synchronization with other mobile devices is the main new feature in the MeeGo 1.0 release. It can be deployed on devices ranging from mobile phones to Netbooks and desktops, offering the same features on all of them.

MeeGo: Where are we now?

The MeeGo: Where are we Now presentation from LinuxCon 2010 was focused on the MeeGo Project and Community:

  • Some background and history for how we got where we are today
  • Challenges we've faced
  • Progress in overcoming those challenges
  • How you can contribute

I also posted an overview of the content from this session as a blog post on Linux.com.
